Welcome To Excel Security School
Students enrolled in the Unarmed Security D Course in Tamarac, Florida, will master fundamental security principles such as physical security, access control, terrorism awareness, and emergency protocols. Report writing, interviewing procedures, and crime and accident prevention techniques are key skills to be developed. All training materials will adhere to F.S. 493 and the legal standards of 5N-1. Upon successfully completing the course, students will receive a Certificate of Completion that must be submitted along with the Class “D” Security License Application to the Division of Licensing. Graduates who acquire the Class “D” Security Officer License will be eligible to work as unarmed security officers for licensed security services.
Students interested in becoming armed security officers must first complete the D Course in order to apply for the Statewide Firearms License. The Armed Security Training is a 28-hour course required to obtain the G License, supplementing the knowledge gained in the D Course.
There are schools with incredibly low course fees that are not in compliance with the full curriculum listed under Florida Statutes 493. By attending these institutions your license may become inactive after being issued by the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, Division of Licensing. Please be aware that these schools are currently under investigation. We are fully licensed, accredited, and insured.

Following the completion of the courses, a Certificate of Completion will be issued for successfully completing this course. Applications must be filed with the Division of Licensing of the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. A hard copy license costs $45 and a background check costs $52.75 from the Division of Licensing. Once submitted, the student will obtain their Class “D” Temporary Security License, allowing them to work as a licensed security officer in the state of Florida the same day. Applications will be reviewed within 60–90 days of receipt, and a preliminary license (in hard copy) will be issued and mailed to the applicant.
Once issued the Class “D” License will be valid for 2 years.
